Finally some good news for the Bangkok After Dark crowd. Today the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) had announced that bars, pubs, and other entertainment venus could be opened in the next few weeks if the new virus infections stay in single digits.
CCSA spokesman said that a big number of shoppers ascended onto the Shopping malls on Sunday as low risk (white) and moderate risk (green) businesses reopened with the second phase of restriction easing.
He also mentioned that “red” businesses which are medium to high risk would be allowed to open in the fourth phase of restrictions easing which timing depends on the daily case count. This included bars, pubs and other night-time businesses.
The situation is improving drastically with new cases dropping to single digits and most of the cases being from returnees to Thailand. CCSA will assess the situation every 14 days and if the number of positive cases stays in single digits opening of “red” businesses could come soon.
He urged the public to keep wearing masks, using alcohol gels and washing their hands as much as possible, and practice social distancing which would maintain the low infection rate and could speed up the opening of all businesses and easing of most restrictions.
