You've Got
A Story.
Tell It.

Bangkok doesn't do ordinary nights. It does the kind of nights that follow you home — the ones you replay on the flight back, the ones you've never quite been able to explain to anyone who wasn't there.

Real Nights.
Real People.
Real Stories.

BangkokAfterDark.com is built on first-person accounts from travelers who actually went out, dived in, and came back with something worth saying. Not polished travel journalism. Not hotel reviews written by people who didn't leave the lobby.

Raw, honest, first-person accounts from people who were there. If that's you — we want to hear it.

Share Four Things

01

Specificity

The stories that land aren't vague — they're grounded in real places, real moments, real feelings. The name of the bar. The street you were on. What the air smelled like. Details are everything.

02

Honesty

You don't need to present yourself as someone who had it all figured out. The best travel writing comes from people who were figuring it out in real time. We can tell the difference.

03

Respect

Bangkok's nightlife is populated by real human beings with real lives. We expect our writers to reflect that. Stories that flatten people into props won't make it through editorial.

04

A Point of View

Something shifted, something surprised you, something changed the way you saw the city — or yourself. Give us that. Not just what happened, but what it meant.

How Long Should
Your Story Be?

There's no strict word count, but the stories that perform best — and get read all the way to the end — tend to run between 600 and 1,200 words. Long enough to take the reader somewhere. Short enough to keep them there.

Don't pad it out. Don't cut the good parts to make it shorter. Write until the story is told, then stop.

Under 400 words Too short

Rarely enough room to do justice to a real Bangkok night.

600 – 1,200 words Sweet spot

Our best-performing stories almost all fall in this range.

1,200 – 2,000 words Works if it earns it

Only if the story genuinely needs the space — we'll edit it down if not.

Before You Send It In

We read every submission and we take the quality of this site seriously. Here's what you need to know going in.

  • All submissions are reviewed and edited

We may adjust structure, headings, and phrasing for clarity and SEO — but we will never change the substance of your story or put words in your mouth.

  • Respect is non-negotiable

Stories that degrade or dehumanize the people featured in them won't make it to publication. Bangkok's nightlife community deserves the same basic respect as anyone else.

  • Your story, your experience

You must be the author and the story must be your own experience. No fiction, no composite stories, no accounts written on behalf of someone else.

  • Publication rights

By submitting, you give BangkokAfterDark.com the right to publish and promote your story. We'll always credit you — by your real name, a pen name, or as Anonymous. Your choice.

  • We can't guarantee publication

If your story isn't right for the site we'll tell you — and if there's something worth working with, we'll often tell you that too.

Bangkok Gave You
The Night.

Now give us the story. If it's got the goods, we'll put it in front of every traveler who lands on this site looking for the real Bangkok.
