Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has told the officials to study permanent staggered work hours even after the Covid-19 pandemic as it could lower Bangkok’s world-famous traffic congestion.
Government organizations have introduced staggered working hours which start at 7:30 am, 8.30 am and 9.30 am which is believed to be one of the reasons for lower traffic congestion in Bangkok since the start of the emergency pandemic decree.
He said staggered work hours combined with working from home and learning from home could remain even after the pandemic to solve traffic problems. He also assigned the Education ministry and Ministry of higher education to study staggered school hours to help with the problem.
Teaching some subjects that may allow students to study at home will reduce travel time to schools and have an impact on parents’ trips to their children’s schools. School hours could be arranged depending on the age of the students. It might be a new normal way of life after this pandemic.
Currently, the new school term is still scheduled to start on July 1st, 2020 but the Government is still monitoring the situation.
