BTS is extending towards the northern suburbs of Bangkok with the Green line opening four new stations on June 3rd 2020.

The stations will go north from Kasetsart University station onto Royal Forest Department then to Bang Bua, 11th Infantry regiment, and end at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station which was formerly known as Laksi monument station.

These four new stations will link government offices and educational institutions and Bangkok’s suburban communities which will alleviate some of the traffic congestion on the usually problematic Phahon Yothin, Vibhavadi Rangsit, Ngam Wong Wan, Kaset Nawamin, Chaeng Watthana, and Ram Intra roads.

The Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station will also connect with the Purple line which runs from the Nonthaburi Government center to the eastern Min Buri district.

Also, the BTS will purchase 13 new trains to accommodate these new stations which will bump the current 85 trains to a total of 98.
