Readers’ stories

You’ve got a Bangkok story. Tell it.

Bangkok doesn’t do ordinary nights. It does the kind that follow you home — the ones you replay on the flight back and have never quite managed to explain to anyone who wasn’t there.

This site is built on first-person accounts from people who actually went out and came back with something worth saying. Not polished travel journalism. Raw, honest, and real.

What we’re looking for

01

Specificity

The stories that land are grounded in real places, real moments, real feelings. The name of the bar. The street you were on. What the air smelled like. Details are everything.

02

Honesty

You don’t need to present yourself as someone who had it all figured out. The best travel writing comes from people who were figuring it out in real time. We can tell the difference.

03

Respect

Bangkok’s nightlife is full of real people with real lives. Stories that flatten people into props won’t make it through editing.

04

A point of view

Something shifted, surprised you, or changed the way you saw the city — or yourself. Not just what happened, but what it meant.

How long should it be?

There’s no strict word count. Write until the story is told, then stop — don’t pad it out, and don’t cut the good parts to make it shorter.

Under 400 words Too shortRarely enough room to do justice to a real Bangkok night.
600–1,200 words Sweet spotOur best-read stories almost all fall in this range.
1,200–2,000 words If it earns itOnly if the story genuinely needs the space — we’ll edit it down if not.
